Skyway Internet Service
What do you know of skyway internet service? Well, skyway is said to offer affordable and decent internet service. If you plan to get skyway, you should first compare the different services they offer.
HughesNet Versus Skyway
The difference between HughesNet and other internet providers is not always clear. In this article by Satellite Family, we will look at the difference between HughesNet and Skyway – downloading, uploading and equipment cost.
When looking at basic pricing of packages for Skyway, you might think they are cheaper. However, their basic package of $29.99 is only for downloading 256kbps – very close to the speed of dial-up. HughesNet’s Home package offers download speeds of 700kbs -three times the download speed of Skyway.
HughesNet offers upload speeds up to 200Kbps for residential packages. Skyway, on the other hand, uses a 56Kbps dial-up modem (which requires a phone line) to send requests to the satellite. This method of communication used by Skyway is known as a one-way satellite internet provider. The result is much slower speeds since you are using a dial-up modem rather than a satellite to send information from your computer.
Skyway advertises $150 for equipment and an additional $150 for installation. There is also a $25 activation fee with Skyway, and if you would like to be able to answer the phone while on the internet you need to purchase upgrade for $49.99. After everything is included, Skyway costs $375 for speeds close to dial-up. HughesNet is not only faster, but you also receive a $100 mail in rebate.
When it comes down to it, with Skyway you still use a dial-up connection to access information on the internet. HughesNet satellite internet is 100% through satellite technology and does not require a phone line or any type of dial-up account.
